Um kinda doesn't feel like I thought it would. I came home on Thursday and was very happy to see mountains again. Chicago is too flat for my taste. People here are complaining about the cold and I just giggle inside. I have been in very cold weather. It has been a bit chilly lately. I am picking up hours at the downtown Starbucks. I actually am getting around 16 this week. cool for me because i need money. I'm used to living and fending for myself so much that when i come back here and there's parental rules still...i'm just getting over it. I now remember all of that, It's just readjusting to living under the "rule" of my parents is gonna take a few days. There's a Christmas Party at my house on friday. white elephant, snacks, games, maybe a movie. it'll be fun. well my legs are falling asleep so i'm gonna go and shake it off. I'll be back in Chicago on the 6th. other than that, please call so we can hang out or something. I'm here for 3 weeks and i wanna see people. g'bye

So Cold...

It's been freaking cold here since last week. From 10-32 degrees is the medium. The snow doesn't melt here, it just turns to ice. The wind could take your face off and i'm being serious. Josh came out last weekend and stayed in the dorms. He had fun i think. We have finals next week and it's scary but then again i can't wait for them to come.I can't wait for this semester to be over and i can go home and hangout with my old friends. we have to have everything spick and span before we leave so we're scrambling to get stuff done and study at the same time. I dyed josh's hair black because he wanted me to. we made a movie out of it and it's pretty cool. ask me when i'm home next week to show it to you. well i'm going to bed now. cya next thursday!!

Thanksgiving at McDonalds?

So thanksgiving has come and gone once again. On wednesday, everyone left our floor except 5 other guys. out of 50 guys only 5 stayed. Jason came in and said "so we're the only ones here" and that's all the human interaction i had until friday night. I went to mcdonalds thursday for lunch and then to the grocery store where i bought a microwave dinner for dinner. Then on friday, i took a train to my friend melissa's relative's house. Melissa met me on the platform and we went and had dinner at her grandma's withall of her cousins and stuff. it was awesome to actually have real food in front of me once again. But i swear that next year I am buyinga plane ticket home. I am still debating on my major. This wednesday, i'm meeting with the person who gets the graduates jobs after college. We're gonna talk about the pros and cons about music and el ed. w/e we'll c. well i'm going to church now. I'll write later.

at the end of the day..

there's been a lot happening. i'll start from the beginning. missy arrived on the 10th a friday. midway is way in the suburbs and it took 45 minutes to get out there. we got back and it was raining. we decided to go see some stuff in her forst few hours. we went to get her a hat because it was raining so hard. our entire bodies were completely soaked. all of our clothes were sticking to us because it was so wet outside. we got her the hat at the hancock tower at northface. then we came back to campus and hung out. on saturday we got up and went to my starbucks and then to Johnny Rockets 50's diner. (I'll take you if you come out here) it was soooooogooood. then we went sight seeing forever. we finally decided to go to Giordanos for dinner. We arrived and were told that there would be an hour and a half wait plus the 40 minutes for the pizza to cook. we decided to go to the Amazon Rainforest Cafe instead. Talk about spendy. it was loud and somewhat cool but the prices were outrageous. then we came back and fell asleep instantly because of how much we had walked [around 8 hours]. then on sunday, my friends that usually go to church didn't go and since missy and i still had much to see, we didn't go. she bought souvenirs for all her family and boyfriend then we went to the hancock tower and were gonna go up but didn't have time. we were going to go to the Messiah concert but when we got back there was no room. we went back to sightseeing till open house when we did my hair...here's the story. it was supposed to be just lightened or something. she brushed the cap of my head and we didn't leave it in long enough so it made my head look like i had a BRIGHT orange yarmulke on. then i had her do some more around my head but it still didn't work so we just finished it all off except for some edges but i think it looks cool unfinished. unique. now everyone at school knows who i am. i'm the only one with a bright yellow head. HA funny well i sent missy off on monday and she had a lot of fun i think but yeah. sweet

Giordanos and Pissed off

well sort of. I mean stupid people should be locked up. Today i went to Giordanos and for you non-chicago people it's the most awesome pizza place outside of italy. had an awesome time hanging out with friends and such. ate my fill of pizza, came back "home" to finish up a little homework and then i just went downstairs to get my laundry out of the dryer. As i got there, all of the doors to all of the dryers were open with half dried laundry hanging from them. Some STUPID person as a joke decided to open all of them and let the clocks run out and have people not get their clothes dry. Now as a person who has all of his clothes either clean or in the wash, this made me pissed, not only that i lost 50 cents but that i have to stay up an extra 40 minutes to go to bed. tomorrow will be better. Missy's coming on friday. I'm skipping class. so now i'm gonna sit here and wait for my laundry grrr

Wow. I lost me keys and found them with ing 24 hours. Ha fun times. Had a fun talk with my sister last night. I miss everyone in HR. I'm having such a blast though. I found out that the mission trip to England will cost me 900 dollars total. i just have to raise the money and get help from people like church. Also, prayer is important. So if you're reading this, pray for me. thank you guys soo much. well i've got a paper to write cya

6th

tonight, i went with bee to watch the 6th sense at a friends apartment. it was fun making him jump. now i'm back at my dorm typing away. I had 2 classes out of 4 cancelled today. so the only classes i had to go to were an 8 and a 9 o'clock. well, i woke up at 7:20 to get ready to go. i looked at my clock. and thought "i haven't used any of my cuts this semester yet...and it's almost over...i'm going back to bed" and so i did. i've used 4 cuts so far from all 6 of my classes. i have around 18 total. so tomorrow i'm gonna get up and go to OT survey, then chapel, then go to lunch, then to work, then to maybe watch a movie with friends. gnite

Had a cool weekend

went to open house. the theme was football. we had to costruct something footballish with football snacks: hot dogs, buns, toothpicks, ketchup, mustard, chips. then we created a halftime show. 'twas fun. going to go eat at Chipotle now. God is good. tomorrow, i only have 2 classes. the others were cancelled. so i'm done after 10 am. whee. then to PCM. i might go to england for 2 weeks. i'll find out tomorrow. THAT would be fun.

God is AWESOME!!!!

So last night....was one of the (insert words)* nights of my life. I had been trying to get a hold of missy for a while and we finally caught each other online. I asked her after some small talk if she'd been thinking about "us" and she said she had. She said that she didn't see it going anywhere. Completely ok because of the distance situation and a lot of other stuff. she then told me that she had met someone. She told me that she was so scared to tell me and that she didn't wan't me to hurt. The fact is that my feelings for her have been slowly fading into the background and dissappearing. There's someone here that has caught my attention. I told her that and she kept apologizing, but we both had a sense of peace about it. She's still a good friend and she's still gonna come out here and visit. I was gonna go home for spring break and surprise her but i think i'm gonna try to go to england on a mission trip with my PCM. God'll let me know. So now missy has a boyfriend and i'm hanging out with someone. I'm not even going to talk about that at all for this year at least. Rebounding is BAD!!! So i signed up for classes next semester. I'm only doing 16 instead of 17. HA my second semester junior year i have to take 19 hours. i'll die. but God's always there. I'm so glad that i can rely on him for absolute truth and clarity. Not everything will be clear to me and i'm ok with that. He's the one with the plan and who am i that i could possibly try to change or alter that. In his perfect timing and in His will, i have never been happier. Just sitting here, watching him work in me and in the lives of others. I'm awestruck at his work. Totally blown away. please pray for my decision to go to europe and that if He wants me to go, He'll provide the money. it's not as expensive as going to the philippines but it's still up there for me. well huh I'm done. Thanks to you all for praying. You are so awesome. May God pour out his spirit on your lives to enable you for great things. May he open your eyes to your mistakes and break you if you need breaking. Always remember that YOU need to sit back and relax because HE has everything under control no matter what!

Registering

The process of registering for the next semester's classes has begun. I have to wait till thursday to register. They sent everyone an email saying: when you regiser, be sure to leave yourself time for lunch. Now when they gave me the slip of paper saying that i needed to go to all my classes this semester, there was no room for lunch at all. isn't that ironic. i'm gonna be switching rooms and living with some other guys on my floor. i skipped my class today because i was tired. i only have one class on tuesdays and thursdays. i had a good PCM last night. the kids were responding and behaving because ...ha haha i've gotten the secret to a kid's heart. Candy!! would tell them they had to finish 10 problems before they got any. they were very good. so next week i'm buying a bag of candy to help them learn. HA well i'm gonna go and take a nap. i'm going to office max today because i need ink for my printer. I went to target last night to get another one but completely forgot the ink cartrige. HA so yeah going to take it with me this time. well gnite

Almost

Almost lost my computer today. It came up with a command prompt for you PC-ers. But it was a FTP screen for us others. So i'm taking my baby into the Apple store a few blocks down to get her checked out. just to make sure she's ok. My iPod decided to die today as well. It made funny noises and erased all of the songs off of it. My iTunes library is full but my iPod is not. sandess ensues. I went, on a different note, to Target today and got a coat, hat, and some other stuff. Smart as i am i took a couple girls with me to make sure i got stuff that wasn't dorky. and i didn't get dorky stuff. i got nice stuff. sigh. eventful day. 'twas supposed to snow. VERY cold today. i'm starting the book series "A series of unfortunate events" i love it. well gnite

There's the chicago marathon happening today. whee. lots of bells. like at the olympics. yeah at 6 in the morning. It was friggin too cold to go to church today. Plus i dont know where it is. so i'm just gonna listen to the sermon on iTunes and sing some worship songs too.

Almost a month

Ha i haven't written in a long time. Wow. So it's October 13th today, yes friday the 13th. And a lot has happened. Going back as far as i can remember between bloggs, the first thing was the open house. 4 times a semester there are open houses for guys and girls 2 per. the first one was a casual [no planned event] open house for the girls. so the guys would be able to go over and see what the girl's rooms and floor looked like. it was fun until soneone pulled the fire alarm and all 10 floors had to be evacuated. Yeah that was fun. The next open house is the one we just had. A planned OH for the guys. So we have to come up with something for the girls to do. in tha past there has been a formal and progressive dinner. this year we did luau. We made a slip 'n' slide in the hallway on Dryer 3. we put heavy duty plastic on the ground and baby soap and water. it was a blast. Then I had midterms and it went pretty well. I'm getting low Bs or Cs. I just want to learn. I'm thinking of joining gospel choir and working on campus so it's easier on me. I am taking 17 credit hours this semester and i am a little overwhelmed. nex semester I'm hoping to only have 14. I went to a friend's house last night and on the way back at 10:30 my ID must have fallen off my person and blown away. So today i had to go get a new one and I like the picture a lot better. Now I'm the only one in my room and 1 out of maybe 10 people who are here and not going home this 5-day weekend. So i'm just gonna do homework. Last week after church I went to Koreatown and had real korean food. it was spicy but really good. well i have a 7 page paper to write by thursday so i'm gonna start on it now. cya

Major

Ok i'm thinking and praying about switching majors. I'm thinking of going with Voice Major instead of Elementary Ed. I'm passionate about music more than Elementary Ed. I just feel disconnected and not caring when it comes to teaching. Tutoring is different. I kinda like that but I'm just not into it. If you guys who read my blog could give me feedback yes / no why? that would be great. Thanks

S'been a few days...

...since I last blogged. I had a few tests and stuff. didn't do well on most of them but I was proud of my B- that I got. Now I'm just trying to do better. Missy's coming to Chicago. HOORAY!!!!! So we're gonna hang out in November. I was looking at Jonathan's pictures on flickr and HOLY COW!!! They are awesome. So anyways i got class in 20 minutes. I took a tylenol pm last night. that felt good. i have to detail the book of galatians today and till tuesday. I also have to take a few quizzes in between. it;s hard but I think i'll manage. Pray that i will get well. the water here is not good for me. I think it's messing up my kidneys. my body hurts and i'm trying to work all at the same time as studying. But I need the money so i have to work. well "Iiiiiii'll be hooooome for Christmaaaaaas" and i'm having a party at my house sometime in there. white elephant fun. or we'll draw names we'll figure it out. it's still september. Pray

Hey everyone. I just took an exam and got a lower grade than i want to have while here at moody. Things are starting to pile up. I'm trying to get ahead and i'm starting to feel overwhelmed. I need a job but i dont think i can do it now. I really need to get on my school. so if you guys could pray for me: my job, my classes (The Church and it's Doctrines in particular), my social life, my major [El Ed] and if i should change it [Music~Voice]. And my ADD. [I know i have it even though i've not been diagnosed]. Thank you guys.

FYT retreat

ok one of the most cool retreats i've been to. I was there with about 220 other people and we went to the "country" more like uptown hood river. but there was a lake and a bonfire and AWESOME FOOD!!! and we got rooms like a hotel. we sang a lot and then we ate and had a lot of fun. we had to build something to symbolize our group and where we were headed this year. we built a holy spirit baton. we then stayed up till 2 am playing mafia and psychiatrist. and just hanging out. then we had a cool breakfast and an awesome ride back to chicago. we went to a camp in indiana. someone had spit in our bus driver's toothpaste that morning i'm sure of. he had a chip on his shoulder. anyway back to work cya

Freakish week

so this week has been hecktic. [spell it as you will] i had a 5 page paper due on tuesday and a few reading tests and assignments throughout the week. I was really stressed for a while then i just gave it to God and all is better now. Plus today i'm going to a 2-day retreat with my First Year Transition group. anyways sorry not to write in a while, as i am sure that everyone in hood river is reading this today. :^\ w/e so yeah gotta go pack for my trip to indiana. we're going to some lake. it'll be fun. cya

I had a dream

So I never dream. But I did last night. I dreamed that I was in a live video game that had to do with riding on the tracks of a mine. But these were about is high up in the air as the top of the sears tower. So it was me and Josh (T) and Missy. We kept losing out cart and it would fall onto the other side of the tracks so we'd go carefully over and get it and put it back so we could start over. We needed to build up speed to go over r a jump. Now these tracks have nothing underneath them except the valley of Hood River about 200 feet immersed in ocean. Then we finally started going and I woke up for a sec then went back to my dream. I dreamed I was in an apartment...A NICE apartment. But it was also a dorm. It was the middle of the night and there was a guy in his bathrobe throwing pebbles at the sliding glass door to get someone's attention. Then my dream had a backtrack. I was sitting in the student dining room here at moody and thus guy from my dorm [never seen him before] was being stupid and egging me on about I don't remember what. So someone was sitting next to me. I think it was my wife. I don't remember what she looked like. No she was my fiancee. So anyways I stood up and popped him one on the face. Then it took me back to the room. And the guy in the bathrobe came up the stairs and said that one of my classmates was scared of his job [security guard] and was having a hard time with it, then it took me to a school and there was a woman there who was out of sorts because the teacher was putting bibles in the backpacks of the elementary students and said that it was too much for them to carry and took up too much space. Then they asked if she'd like to have a bible and she said yes then they said $1.50 and she had the look on her face like "how dare you charge me" and then she bought it and they asked if she'd like another and that it would be $10.75 and then it took me back to the dorm thing and there was a lady there saying that there was a girl that was upset too and that she needed help. She was a black lady with whiting hair. Then the kid came into the room and we became friends again and started to play in a band and I woke up.

So. I don't dream. But when I do, they are doozies. Sometimes it's something that's gonna happen or did happen in real life. Sometimes it's not. Whatever Amazed that I could remember details. Anyway

OT Paper

So i have this Old Testament paper that's due on Tuesday that has to be 5 pages on the penteteuch. not that hard but it's taking forever. so that's what's happening with me. i'll try to type later.

Friday

Yesterday i had no classes and today all the classes are an hour apart and i only have 3 so yeah fridays are awesome!!! i've got a lot of homework and i have to figure out how to get my mom to be able to communicate with with video through AIM and iChat. talking to an apple guy so s'all good. i used up my minutes so i have to only txt today. i get my minutes back tomorrow. haa anyway going to my last class now

No class

Ok today i have no classes and lunch was burgers. how awesome of a day. now i have to study i have a 5 page paper due next week cya

Jewel

So last night someone burnt popcorn and decided to look into the smouldering smelly charred black bag to see if it really was burnt. therefore setting off the fire alarm and we had to have people come up to turn it off. yeah fun times. so then i came back to my room and then we [evan and i] got a call from our sister floor asking if we could escort them to Jewel. [it was 9 at night and yeah bad things happen after the sun goes down] so i said "they want to buy braceletts at nine at night?" but jewel turned out to be a grocery store much like safeway. and we made it back without incident. then i stayed up for a while trying to get video in iChat to work at home with AIM video on my mom's pc but it never worked so i'm gonna call apple in a few minutes. i'm having my mom buy an iMac and i'm gonna teach her how to use it when i go home for x-mas. BTW another party at my house in December we'll figure out the details later. so yeah because my mom's computer keeps crashing on her. so that's what's gonna happen.

Starbucks

So i got to work and no one knew i was coming. so they had me sit down and watch this movie on how to runn the till. then they gave me a hat and apron. they asked me "what do you know how to do?" i said "drinks" they said "ok that's what you're doing today, GO" so i got thrown in the kiosk and it took about 30 minutes to remember everything. [i've been gone for 3 weeks] so then the ruch came and it was crazy but really fun. then 4:45 came up and the shift manager or whatever she was [remember they had no clue i was working today so they just threw me in w/o any explanation about ANYTHING] and asked me "when was your last break?" i said "i havent' had one yet . she flipped out and said "geez man go take yourself a fifteen minute break i'm so sorry" [now when i worked at HR safeway i did 4-6 hour shifts by myself doing EVERYTHING w/o breaks] so i told her that and she said "ARE YOU SERIOUS?!" she kept saying "I dont know how you did it" it was funny. the only bad part was i was working with9 other people. 2 girls 3 guys and a couple of "guys that only God loves" WELCOME TO CHICAGO STARBUCKS!!!. So had to bite my lip to not laugh at them and their high pitched lithpy voithes...sorry. and then i was done and went home and talked on the computer and then went to bed and here i am getting ready to go to breakfast and then to classes all day.

Work

So i start working today @ starbucks. It'll be fun. I just have to learn how to do the machine. basically. pray that it 's not busy but anyways. i'm going to breakfast now

Chinatown

so chinatown....yeah scary place. it was kinda stuck in the 70's and there was people everywhere who looked like they were just waiting to rip out their samurai swords and hack us to pieces. we then went down a few streets and found the larget McDonalds i have ever seen it was 2 stories high. we also saw the amazon cafe or something like that. also there was a real cool burger place set in the 1930's. so now i got my mail to work through computer/email expertise between a fellow mac user and I. Well i'd better go to bed because i have an 8:00 class tomorrow. i also have to start my first day at work tomorrow. WHEE!!

Hush puppies

my first encounter with hush puppies was tonight. I say encounter because i don't know what to think of them. Apparently someone in my group of friends from Hood River knows how to make them well but i dont remember who. I bit into them after someone had told me what they were "deep fried balls of bread". i was surprised at how moist they were with the butter [or whatever the liquid was]. i think they need gravy. 'course i'm from tennesee and everything needs gravy or salt and pepper. but they were good nonetheless. i'm going into china town tonight with a group of friends. so i'll write later

today i did nothing at all. i got up at 10 and took a shower and then played on my compy and then went to lunch and then came back here and played on the compy then went to a sub shop for dinner and now here i am again. I talked to missy for a few minutes but she was on her way to go somewhere where there's no service so [sniff] i miss her a lot. evey once in a while i dont feel that i'm here. i have a lot of out of body experiences. mainly when i'm thinking about all you guys in HR. today i think was the first day that i wanted to go back to HR and see my friends. I live off of communicating with you guys. hmm lunch was kinda good today. we had a baked potato and veggie lasagna and garlic bread. I'm going out to dinner tonight. i dont know where yet. i have one class that is "academic" :college writing. all my other classes are: spiritual life and community, Old Testament Survey, The Church and it's doctrines, studying and teaching the bible, and introduction to ministry. it's amazing how much i DON'T know about the bible. well anyways. i'm bored which means i need to call missy or get on homework...missy it is then!.

Sleep in...

So i slept in this morning. it's sunday. i'm gonna have my own church service in my room by myself. i got music and the bible. anyways. i think we're gonna go out to eat tonight. Last night i started learning guitar. i think i'm picking it up fast. it's easier to pick it up when you're playing with someone than if you have to do it alone. so i'm gonna go take a shower and have worship time. cya

1st college posting

ok some people think that i should blog like crazy. now i have some time todo this but if i dont i'm sorry. there's probably only 3 people that will read this blog anyways so yeah. um, college is cool and some of my friends are awesome. yes i said some. the city is beautiful. check out my pics at www.flickr.com/photos/andyinhr . i miss hood river so bad. well that's all i can think of right now so i'll try to get back to this later
